Spring break Cozumel happens every year when it appears as though spring has finally sprung, millions of people from across the United States and Canada descend on the warm and sandy beaches of some destination far from home to relax or party their days away instead of their usual daily routines that typically involve little relaxation or partying and mostly studying and/or working.
Spring breaks were started in the USA by colleges and universities and has now grown to include celebrants of all ages, whether students or not, and is celebrated in many western countries around the world. The spring break celebrations created by young people are known to typically involve a lot of alcohol consumption and raucous partying into the wee hours of the morning, but there are many springtime travelers who want to steer completely clear of the coed spring break celebrations and seek a less intense and quieter getaway with friends and family.
Regardless of which spring break celebrant you are, Cozumel has accommodations with amenities to please everyone. Some of the hotels and resorts on the subtropical island are prepared to accept guests who are college-age and looking for a big party, but there are also hotels that specifically forbid college spring breakers as guests because they want to offer every guest the atmosphere to which they are accustomed when visiting the island, which is usually the exact opposite of the atmosphere sought by younger spring break participants.
The beautiful subtropical island of Cozumel, Mexico is the perfect spring break destination for everyone and lies in the shimmering Caribbean Sea on the eastern side of the Yucatan Peninsula. Its dry season is only from February to April so precipitation occurs most of the year with September and October being the rainiest months and average humidity is 83%, but that’s to be expected from a small island in the middle of the ocean!
August is the hottest month of the year on the island, averaging 82F, and January is the coldest, with an average daily air temperature of 75F. Since the water temperature rarely drops below 68F and is usually much warmer in the mid and upper 80F range, aquatic activities are year-round in Cozumel, which makes it the perfect escape for everyone at spring break or any other time of the year!
For Americans, Canadians and Mexicans alike the traditional annual spring break from school or work has become an important occasion and the beautiful warm weather and plethora of fun activities under the sun is an excellent reason to make Cozumel your next spring break destination.
